ESPN’s Chris Mortenson reported earlier today that the Cleveland Browns were considering firing Head Coach Rob Chudzinskie after just one year at the helm. It now appears after a 20-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers that he will indeed be fired:
The Browns were down to Chudzinkskie and Bengals Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer last year as their two finalists, and ultimately went with Chud. One has to assume they’ll loo t o Zimmer again this year.
The Houston Texans are expected to fill their head-coaching vacancy with Penn state’s Bill O’Brien, while the New York Jets are expected to retain Rex Ryan after it appeared for the past month that he was certain to be fired.
According to Fox Sports’ Glazer, the Detroit Lions ownership will meet on Black Monday and they will ultimately be showing head coach Jim Schwartz the door:
"“We knew it was playoffs or bust,” Glazer said. “They did not make the playoffs. Ownership will meet about him tomorrow (Monday) morning. Jim Schwartz will be out.”"
