Rookie running back Giovani Bernard is up for the 2013 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year Award. The NFL today announced the five finalists for the award, and they include WR Keenan Allen of the San Diego Chargers LB Kiko Alonso of the Buffalo Bills RB Eddie Lacy of the Green Bay Packers and WR Cordarrelle Patterson of the Minnesota Vikings, as well as Gio Bernard.

Fans can vote for one of these five players on through Tuesday, January 28 to determine the 2013 award-winner.

The winner will be announced in New York City at the “3rd Annual NFL Honors” awards show, a two-hour primetime special to air nationally on February 1 on FOX the night before Super Bowl XLVIII. The five finalists were selected for their outstanding performances throughout the 2013 NFL season.

Each week, five nominees were chosen for the Pepsi NEXT NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL fans voted for the winner on Those results were used to help determine the finalists.

Gio Bernard was drafted in the second round (37th overall) out of North Carolina, finished the season with 170 carries for  695 yards and five touchdowns. He was instrumental in helping lead Cincinnati (11-5) to an AFC North division title and a perfect 8-0 record at home.
