When the Cincinnati Bengals selected North Carolina running back Giovani Bernard in the 2013 NFL Draft, it wasn’t the first time Gio would step foot into the Queen City and play in Paul Brown Stadium.
He played high school football at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was teammates with current Florida State Seminoles All-American safety Lamarcus Joyner.
While in high school, he was ranked as the No. 2 running back in Florida by the Orlando Sentinel and the No. 12 running back in the United States by Rivals.com, and he and his team had the chance to play at Paul Brown Stadium against Elder in 2008:
St. Thomas Aquinas defeated Cincinnati Elder, 35-24.
