This is first significant week of the offseason for most NFL teams, as the Senior Bowl practices are commencing today.

The annual all-star game, which will be played Saturday at 4 p.m. ET, and the practices that precede it give teams a chance to evaluate the top college football seniors in the country.

First off, here’s the order of events taking place on Monday:

8:30-10 a.m. — Player weigh-in by National Football Scouting (Mobile Convention Center)
1-3 p.m. — South team practice (Fairhope Stadium)
3-5 p.m. — North team practice (Ladd-Peebles Stadium)
6-8:30 p.m. — Player/media night (Battleship USS Alabama)
8:30-11 p.m. — Teams conduct formal interviews with players

And here are the results from this morning’s weigh-ins:

The Senior Bowl specifically notes the prospects who were invited, but declined to compete. Those players were as follows:

• Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State

• Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State

• Carlos Hyde, RB, Ohio State

• Lamarcus Joyner, CB/S, Florida State

• Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo

• Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M

• A.J. McCarron, QB, Alabama

• C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama

• Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford.

With a need at cornerback, the Bengals would have loved to see Dennard and Gilbert in action, as they figure to be locks for the first-round at this point.

Not to mention McCarron, who may slip to the third or fourth-round, and the Bengals need a developmental QB to come in and at least push Andy Dalton this year, and possibility replace him if the team doesn’t re-sign him next offseason.
