2014 NFL Draft: Projecting Bengals Visits With Picks

As we inch closer to the 2014 NFL draft prospect visits and workouts should mostly be over. Last year we saw two of the prospects that visited drafted and another one who was signed this offseason. Let’s look at who the Bengals had come in this year and if possible, figure out which positions they are looking at and in which round. Remember that local prospects don’t count against team visits so the Ohio State, Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, etc. are not listed, the link shows some of the invites.

The prospects are separated by the rounds they are projected to be drafted in.
Projected Round 1
Calvin Pryor, DB, Louisville
Darqueze Dennard, DB, Michigan State
Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
Jason Verrett, DB, TCU
Aaron Donald, DL, Pittsburgh
Dee Ford, DL, Auburn
Ryan Shazier, LB, Ohio State
Odell Beckham, WR, LSU
What may stand out to you is the fact that there are seven defensive players and only on offensive player. I think that that is how it will shake out. Unless one of the tackles falls or they decide Teddy Bridgewater is the best value, the first pick will be on the defensive side of the ball. It looks as like there may be a run on corners before the Bengals pick and I would almost guarantee that San Francisco is trading up for a corner or a wide out. If I’m the Bengals I accommodate a trade with them acquire some picks, move back in the first an use the extra picks to move up in the second and third rounds.
