As Ken Riley took the stage with the commissioner, he announced the Cincinnati Bengals pick as Jeremy Hill, Running Back from LSU. Yes, I said running back.

Mike Maylock of NFL Network, pointed out that BenJarvus Green Ellis’s time is coming due in Cincinnati, and it is vital for the Bengals to find someone who can share the load with Giovani Bernard. This will come in the form of a more shore handed running back who is a great downhill runner.

Jeremy Hill has had a little trouble off the field but showed last season that he is well worth the risk as a second team All-American, and with no fumbles lost over 2 seasons at LSU. He rushed for over 1,400 yards last season, and was the MVP of the Outback Bowl. A solid back to replace BJGE in the long run and could spell the end for running back Rex Burkhead or Cedric Peerman.

Jeremy Hill is a North and South runner and can make people miss with his speed burst. He doesn’t try to break it to the outside, that’s Gio’s job. He doesn’t try to get fancy with the ball or his feet, he is strictly a yards guy with the ability to hold on to the ball.

It may have made little sense to some as the Bengals had a few more depth needs, but I look forward to seeing Hill develop and come into his own as a Cincinnati Bengal.
