The Bengals may have lost their first preseason game to the Chiefs, but several players stepped up or solidified their position on the final roster while a few other players put themselves into positional discussions going forward.  Here’s a look at the latest roster prediction for the team’s final 53-man roster.

Special Teams (3): (K) Mike Nugent, (P) Ken Huber, (LS) Clark Harris

It was originally reported that by Bengals.com’s Geoff Hobson that special team’s coach Darrin Simmons stated there will be a “heated” battle between second-year kicker Quinn Sharp and veteran Mike Nugent.  Both Sharp and Nugent have performed well to date; Nugent made the only field goal during the game against the Chiefs and both kickers made their extra points.  Nugent also seemed to have the better kickoffs often putting the ball deep into the end zone, which allowed the coverage team the opportunity to stop the returner prior to his own 20 yard line.   Until Nugent does something wrong, the job will be his.  As for both punter Ken Huber and long-snapper Clark Harris, both have a stranglehold on their jobs.
