Loser: Sean Porter
Second-year linebacker Sean Porter had an opportunity in last night’s game to reestablish himself amongst the team’s reserve linebackers. He’s probably the most talented and versatile of the group, yet hasn’t been able to display this ability since being drafted in last year’s fourth round. Prior to the start of the 2013 season, Porter suffered a torn labrum, which sidelined him for the year. Upon returning this off-season, Porter has continued to suffer through injuries. He’s only been able to get onto the field briefly during the preseason and last night suffered the team’s lone injury.

It seems like Porter is destined for the team’s practice squad. He’ll probably be retained as it seems unlikely another team would claim him with his injury history. Hopefully Porter can utilize this time to learn the game while finally getting healthy. If so, maybe next year he’ll be able to bring his pass-rushing prowess and versatility to this defense.
