Baltimore Ravens (2-1): Stock Down

Coming off a divisional road win and their stock is down?  Crazy, but unfortunately true.  The Ravens were hit with two huge injuries this week as tight end, and maybe their biggest offensive weapon, Dennis Pitta was ruled out for the season with a dislocated hip.  It’s the second of his career and could prove to be career threatening unfortunately.  It’s so sad for such an excellent player.  Along with Pitta, the Ravens lost starting left tackle Eugene Monroe this week to knee surgery.

These injuries could really hurt both the running and passing game as the Ravens already lacked multiple receiving weapons–Torrey Smith is really struggling in the new offense–so it will be easier for teams to key in on the run game.  The Ravens had better hope UDFA James Hurst is up to the challenge of protecting Joe Flacco’s blind side. The Baltimore Ravens will face the Carolina Panthers at home; their third home game of the season already.  It should prove to be an interesting match-up as Steve Smith will face his former team; something I’m sure he’s looking forward to.  Here’s a comment made by Smith during this off-season regarding playing his former team.

"“If that happens to run through Bank of America stadium, put your goggles on because there’s going to be blood and guts everywhere.”"

Clearly, it’ll be an interesting encounter. Despite the record and Week three win, these injuries really hurt this team’s stock.

Week Four Schedule: vs. Panthers
