Fantasy Football Week 9: Waiver Wire Wonders
This week’s “Waiver Wire Wonders” will focus on some gambles, but could be worth the payoff for owners who are proactive in seeking out their services in the upcoming weeks. Most leagues are past the halfway point and making a push now could be what your team needs to get into the playoffs and move towards a championship. Remember though to not chase inconsistent weekly performances and start a waiver pickup over a proven player as many times they fall back to earth. Here is this week’s “Waiver Wire Wonders.”

QB – Robert Griffin III, Washington Redskins
I’m going to recommend adding RGIII if you have a spot. It’s clear that the Redskins’ job is his when he plays again, which could be as early as next week. RGIII is owned in 36% of Yahoo leagues and could be a great add if he can stay healthy. In his only healthy game this year, Griffin attempted over 30 passes. He is the kind of end of roster flier that could provide nice dividends down the stretch.
RB – Lorenzo Taliaferro, Baltimore Ravens
“Low T” showed last week versus the Bengals that he deserves more time. Another good sign for Taliaferro’s fantasy upside was the healthy scratch of Bernard Pierce. Taliaferro is owned in only 9% of Yahoo leagues and is playing many of the snaps inside the 10-yard-line. He at the very least makes a great bye week filler.
WR – Allen Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars
Robinson has been targeted 37 times the last four weeks and clearly has a rapport with his fellow rookie Blake Bortles. The Jaguars get a Bengals’ defense that hasn’t been very good, but does a good job against opposing receivers going deep. What they do though is give up some underneath passes making Allen a nice PPR addition as well. Allen is worth an add as he is getting the volume and production that gets fantasy owners solid points.
TE – Tim Wright, New England Patriots
The waiver wire is really dry for productive tight ends and I’m going with Wright because he has a favorable matchup this week against Denver who is giving up the ninth most points. Also after his bye, Wright has several high upside matchups that could provide owners with a boost from the tight end position.
