Michael Johnson was cut by the Buccaneers on Wednesday while the Bengals were hosting defensive tackle Nick Fairley. It was a move that had Bengals fans excited, but ultimately they decided to turn their attention to bringing Johnson back to the Queen City. When Fairley signed with the Rams only days later, the Bengals had to get Johnson.

Just like Hawk, Mike Zimmer in Minnesota had his eye on Johnson, and for the second time, lost to the Bengals. Yes, he had a bad season last year, and yes, he isn’t worth it if he repeats that performance in 2015, but I see him returning to at least his 2013 form, and maybe 2012’s.

It’s a move gives most of us a reason to smile when reflecting on the offseason. His contract is worth $20 million over four years.  Johnson will also be pocketing $7 million in guaranteed money from the Buccaneers this season.
