Once regarded as a Day Two guy, the Bengals took Josh Shaw in the fourth round. When Cincinnati stepped to the podium, I was hoping they would select cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu from Oregon; instead, they took Josh Shaw and I believe it was a great decision.

Josh Shaw is a very versatile defensive back. He can play outside, slot and safety if asked, which is perfect for the Bengals’ secondary. The Bengals now have their future secondary locked down. Dre Kirkpatrick will be on the outside along with Darqueze Dennard while Shaw plays the nickel. This selection was an area of future need and I like how the Bengals filled this slot.

Selection Grade: B

Next: Round Four: DL Marcus Hardison, Arizona State
