A.J. McCarron was on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list last season due to his “over used” shoulder from his time in Alabama. It was because of his comments about his time with the Crimson Tide and head coach Nick Saban that sparked some concern about his leadership abilities and caused him to drop to the fourth round in the 2014 draft.

He is back and says he is fully healthy, which many hoped would be the start for a quarterback competition with Andy Dalton. McCarron should be the number two quarterback heading into this season, but it is still less certain that Andy Dalton starting the season as the number one quarterback.
