This preseason positional ranking series will focus on the AFC North, looking at each position and where each team stands in comparison with its rivals. We’ve looked at each team’s quarterbacks, running backswide receiversoffensive lines and defensive lines, so now let’s take a look at the linebackers and determine which linebacking corps is the best in the AFC North.

The AFC North, as mentioned in almost every article pertaining to the AFC North, is a rugged, run-first division. Not only that, three of the division’s four teams possess quarterbacks with multiple playoff appearances on their resumés, two of whom have a combined three Super Bowl rings. With numerous talented running backs within the division to compliment these quarterbacks, defenses in the AFC North have to be able to stop both the passing game or running game. And in stopping opposing offenses, linebackers can be effective against both the pass and the run, as much as–or even more than–other defensive players. And the AFC North is loaded with linebacking talent. Let’s take a look at which team boasts the best linebacking corps in the division; as always, there can only be one.
