Reggie Nelson is one of the Bengals’ most underappreciated players of all time; he’s a high-caliber safety, a great team leader and one of the league’s most feared ball-hawks. Despite this, Nelson has yet to earn a Pro Bowl nod, which is just ridiculous. His 571 career tackles and 22 interceptions indicate the type of game-changing impact that Nelson can have, and it’s about time that he earns the honor of being selected to a Pro Bowl.
Nelson is a great pass-defender and a solid run-stopper; he’s versatile enough to play both free safety and strong safety and is durable enough to stay on the field throughout the season. Nelson’s on-field abilities and mentorship with his teammates have helped Cincinnati’s safety corps become the best in the AFC North and one of the best in the NFL.
Nelson is now 31 years old, so this could be one of his last opportunities to make a Pro Bowl. He deserves this honor; let’s hope that he can put up the numbers to get recognition in the 2015 season. Even if he doesn’t put up great numbers, he’s going to make a huge impact and deserves Bengals fans’ votes.
