2. George Iloka
George Iloka, like his aforementioned counterpart in the defensive backfield, is one of the Bengals’ most underappreciated and underrated players. He’s actually one of the best players on Cincinnati’s roster, allowing a reception just once every 51.8 snaps in coverage, the best mark in the NFL at safety. I encourage you to read Jason Marcum’s piece on George Iloka being named PFF’s Secret Superstar for the Bengals; it explains how dominant Iloka has been, how much he’s grown in just two seasons as the starter and how much he can still improve.
Teamed up with Reggie Nelson, Iloka puts the Bengals’ safety tandem over the top as the best safety tandem in the NFL aside from Seattle’s duo. He already deserves a Pro Bowl nod for the impact he’s made as a defender, but he could easily earn recognition in the upcoming season if he’s able to keep improving as drastically as he has been improving since becoming a starter on defense.
