Fantasy Football Week 1: Sneaky Starts

1 of 2

Football season is back! Which means fantasy football is back, and by now you have drafted and are ready for the first full Sunday of games.  For the opening week I am going to take a look at what I like to call, “Sneaky Starts”. Not dart throw sleepers, or guys that on 85% of the teams in your league, but guys that you could possibly find on the wavier or that are at the bottom of your roster.

QB – Carson Palmer vs New Orleans Saints

Palmer didn’t have a great preseason, but he should be fine in a match-up against one of the weakest secondaries in football. Palmer now has more talent around him with the addition of former Bengal tight end Jermaine Gresham, and veteran running back Chris Johnson. Running back Andre Ellington, and up and comer receiver John Brown, give Palmer some reliable, quick hit options to go to behind a leaky offensive line. Former All-Pro and future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald, also gives Palmer a big option to get the ball to.

RB – Danny Woodhead vs Detroit Lions

“Woody” returns after an injury wiped out last season for the traveled veteran. He is the clear 3rd down, pass catching back, in San Diego and early on will get lots of opportunities while rookie Melvin Gordon gets up to speed. Woodhead is only recommended in full point PPR leagues as a player who will get most, if not all of the passing game looks out of the backfield. Some are forgetting that in 2013 Woodhead finished in the top 15 of all running backs in scoring.
