NFL Week 9 Game-by-Game Picks

Atlanta Falcons (6-2) at San Francisco 49ers (2-6)

Sunday 11/8 at 4:05PM EST

No upset pick here. The Falcons have benefitted from a ridiculously easy schedule, but they’re still better than a 49ers team that is one of the worst in football. And while I love Blaine Gabbert just because of this video’s existence alone, I have no faith in him as a quarterback, the offensive line in front of him or the 49ers team as a whole. Despite a loss last week, Atlanta has been rolling. Matt Ryan finally played a good game in Tampa last week, and Devonta Freeman leads the NFL in rushing. Oh yeah, and Julio Jones is still on the Falcons too, so there’s that.

New York Giants (4-4) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4)

Sunday 11/8 at 4:05PM EST

Here’s yet another upset pick, but this one is a bit sneaky. Jameis WinstonDoug Martin and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, however, have been sneaky good, so they’re deserving of the upset pick here. Martin has finally regained form as a one-cut running back and Winston quietly has gone three straight games without tossing an interception. On the other hand, the Giants’ defense is a disaster, and while the offense is coming off a game in which it tore apart the Saints’ secondary, the offense isn’t really that good.

31. 31. 48. Final. 20

Denver Broncos (7-0) at Indianapolis Colts (3-5)

Sunday 11/8 at 4:25PM EST

I’m going bold here and taking the Colts in this one. While it would be easy to pick Denver to win this game, I think that the Colts found themselves at the end of their loss to the Panthers on Monday night. And I also believe that if Indianapolis could stay in a game at Carolina, it could easily win a game at home against the Broncos–that is, if Andrew Luck plays like he played at the end of last week’s game for more than just a quarter. While it seems unlikely that Indianapolis will win this game, I’m taking a shot in the dark and picking the Colts to win on Sunday.
