Luckily,

Brandon Tate

did get his muffed punt and the Bengals retained possession but Adam Jones had a beautiful return erased with a offsetting holding call, away from the ball.

Mike Nugent

did hit both of his field goals but

Kevin Huber

had an incredibly busy evening. It was not a good night overall for the Bengals and if we were grading Huber and Nugent only, they would probably be a A-, but the return game and penalties killed them.

Coaching: C-

Paul Guenther did a great job with the defense adjusting for the changes, especially late in the game when Hoyer left the game with concussion concerns and T.J. Yates came in. The penalties killed but the coaches aren’t playing the game and they can only work to limit those in practice.

Hue Jackson’s offense, looked outplayed, overpowered, and not at their best. They ran 15 plays between Bernard and Hill out of the backfield. They have struggled when they have not had a balanced offense and showed that once again. The Texans defense got pressure on Dalton, little adjustments were made, they had seven tackles for loss, little adjustments were made, outside of taking the ball out of the running backs hands. Jackson was out coached, which means so was Marvin Lewis by extention.

The Bengals were not ready on offense for the Houston Texans and will now head for Arizona to take on an even better Cardinals team. They will hopefully make adjustments and be ready to get themselves back into the win column next Sunday night.
