Lately, the Cleveland Browns have been a hot topic in the NFL. Ironically, it is not because of the typical dysfunction in the organization. The Browns have finally started to turn into the right direction. The Hue Jackson signing is the obvious reason. Jackson has brought hope to all Cleveland fans everywhere. However, we won’t talk about Jackson in this article. Here in Cincinnati we have dealt with the impact of it all too well already. Instead, let’s focus on the quarterbacks that the Bengals could see in a Browns uniform next season.

As a quarterback, you are suppose to be the clear leader of the team. You are suppose to be the clear captain, the on field coach, and in some cases the best player on the team. However, being the quarterback in Cleveland is like a revolving door. Johnny Manziel was brought into Cleveland in the first round of the 2014 draft. The former Heisman winner out of Texas A&M was supposed to be the cornerstone of the franchise. Yet, clearly that didn’t pan out.

Off the field issues caught up to Manziel pretty quickly and may be the reason why he is out of Cleveland next season. However, Jackson will certainly look into Manziel and see if he is worth keeping for another year. Manziel is not the only Brown quarterback that could get the boot with Jackson. Josh McCown started for Cleveland at the beginning of the season, but went down half way in. Jackson could think about retaining McCown as well. in eight games McCown threw for 2,109 yards, 12 touchdowns, and a quarterback rating of 93.3. While half season numbers look good, it is important to note that McCown went 2-6 in those games.

Manziel and McCown’s future is up in the air, but what if they both get the boot in Cleveland? Who will be the quarterback for the Browns? Does the next guy come in the draft, a trade or free agency?

Here is a look at five players who the Bengals and the rest of the AFC North may have to worry about next season.
