A.J. McCarron

The next quarterback choice, could be a familiar face in Cincinnati. Backup quarterback A.J. McCarron could possibly be the quarterback for Cleveland, for the right price of course. Although this deal only happens if Hue Jackson wants it to happen bad enough. The trouble with bringing in RGIII is that on one side most fans may not like the idea of bringing in a “has-been”. Although on the other side, it might sell some tickets and jerseys.

In this case, McCarron wouldn’t bring either. Browns fans won’t rush to the store and buy a McCarron jersey, nor will they jump right to hating him. The reason why, is McCarron is a two time BCS Championship winner, but more importantly, he is a good quarterback who just wins. McCarron in a Brown uniform would bring the fans together in support of him. As a starter. McCarron went 2-1 in the regular season and was moments a way from capturing a playoff win under his belt.

McCarron played very well when given his shot. He is not a quarterback that makes many mistakes. While he may have the game manager tag, its only a name. Alex Smith is named a game manager for the Chiefs, but look at what he did this season. Without Jamal Charles, Smith led an 11 game winning streak. He put up 30 points in a shutout against Houston and was one possession away from beating New England in the divisional round.

Jackson is very confident in McCarron, as we seen in the final weeks of the season. However, its hard to see the Bengals trade inside the division first and foremost. Also, its hard to think the Bengals who are equally confident in McCarron would want to trade him just to play him twice a year. However, it is certainly a possibly.
