FanSided’s first mock draft is out, and the Bengals landed perhaps the biggest steal of the entire draft in A’Shawn Robinson.
With A’Shawn Robinson somehow slipping all the way to the 24th overall pick, the Cincinnati Bengals jump at the chance to steal a nose tackle with immediate Pro Bowl potential.
While Cincinnati could definitely use more help at linebacker, wide receiver and safety, it will elect to take the best player available in Robinson, who has been among the top 10-15 players selected in almost every mock draft.
A consensus All-American versatile enough to play inside or outside, the nose tackle will have a year to develop before taking over for Domata Peko and becoming Cincinnati’s long-term nose tackle.
Robinson has incredible measurables, and he has shown potential to be one of the most disruptive players in football. He racked up 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in 15 games during his final season.
Already boasting Geno Atkins, Carlos Dunlap and Michael Johnson, Cincinnati has one of the best defensive lines in football. Adding Robinson would give the Bengals a solid reason to boast about what could likely become the best defensive lines in the NFL.
The one knock on Robsinson is his lack of polish, which is perfect considering his landing spot in Cincinnati. The nose tackle would have a year to progress and could even see time in the rotation if Wallace Gilberry leaves or the position group suffers injuries.
It was difficult for us to pass up on guys like Sheldon Rankins, Robert Nkemdiche and Taylor Decker, but Robinson would be a sweet addition at nose tackle who could be an immediate contributor and long-term focal point of the Benagls defense.
