Bengals Offseason List: Part Two Free Agents

2. Receiver Marvin Jones
Jones returned from injury to have a solid year catching 65 passes for over 800 yards and scoring four times in 2015. Jones made some exceptional, crucial catches during games and everyone would love to see him back in stripes, but at what cost? When looking at Jones’ stats he had a catch rate of 63%, which would rank him in the 30’s among qualifying receivers and in his last 32 regular season games he has went over 100 yards one time. With over 13 million dollars invested in AJ Green’s 2016 cap hit, the Bengals won’t value Jones as
much as other teams.
Recommendation: Let Jones walk, collect a 2017 third round compensatory pick, and feature Green, running back Giovanni Bernard, and Tyler Eifert in the pass game.
Projected Signing Team: Hue Jackson will continue to bite the hand that fed him which made him a top coaching candidate. The Browns will throw 8-9 million per year at Jones and have a suddenly potent attack with Josh Gordon, Jones, and Andrew Hawkins.
