Look, Rey isn’t a flashing free agent that racks up quarterback sacks and interceptions, but he is an important part of the team. Moving forward, the roster is going to go through a change this year and the more quality veteran leaders you can have to groom the young guys, the better. Rey is a model of professionalism and consistency who can be counted on to play all three linebacker positions if needed. Already, we know that fellow linebacker Vontaze Burfict will be serving a three game suspension and the likely fill in will be Rey, but don’t worry, he’s used to it. While filling in for Burfict this year, all Rey did was lead the team in tackles and be apart of a 6-0 season start.

Recommendation:  Get him signed. Vinny Rey is exactly the type of player that the Bengals need right now. He’s one I think most Bengal fans would agree needs to stick around.

Projected Signing Team: This is a deal the Bengals will get done in short order. That is if Rey wants to stay with the team, which there doesn’t seem to be any indication that he does not.  Entering his age 29 season Rey will slot back into the starting lineup for the first three games and be the first linebacker off the the bench once Burfict returns.
