The Cincinnati Bengals have finally added a wide receiver to their depleted receiving core in Brandon LaFell.

The Cincinnati Bengals just got a little deeper in the one position they needed it most after Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones departed in free agency. Brandon LaFell will join the Bengals after a two year stay in New England and a Super Bowl ring with the Patriots.

It is no secret, Brandon LaFell had a less than desirable 2015 campaign with the Patriots. In fact, that is one of the reasons that he was ultimately let go. However, a down year and something to prove is usually just what the doctor ordered when the Bengals come calling to outside free agents.

LaFell only caught 50% of his targets and dropped a number of passes. His 515 yards were a large drop off from the 953 yards during the Patriots Super Bowl run in 2014. However, it is the desire to return to that 2014 form and help the Bengals get passed the wildcard of the playoffs that drove him to Cincinnati.

LaFell has 278 receptions on 488 target with 3,853 yards and 20 touchdowns in six season. He spent his first four years in Carolina with the Panthers behind Steve Smith Sr. and tight end Greg Olsen. The former first round draft pick then went to the New England Patriots and got his Super Bowl ring before ultimately ending up on the cut list after his lackluster 2015 season.

The details of his contract have yet to be released but compared to Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu, it is sure to be a steal.
