Russell Bodine or Christian Westerman
Russell Bodine has been a point of frustration for the Bengals over the past couple of years. Missed snaps, blocking issues, and overall timing has been at the center of issues in camp and during the season.
During camp last season, Hue Jackson became very impatient with Bodine, according to Coley Harvey of ESPN.com. Bodine will need to step up however this season with someone now pressuring the Bengals to make a move on the depth chart and change starting centers.
Paul Alexander however, thinks highly of his center, and thinks all of this rumor of bringing in Christian Westerman to replace Bodine. According to Coley Harvey, Alexander believes he was better in his first two years than Clint Bolings first two years.
Christian Westerman was the Bengals fifth round draft pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. His projection of a low third round draft pick gives his incredible value in the fifth round. The Bengals could need a new guard in a year, depending on what Kevin Zeitler does in a contract year.
Westerman is not going to just sit back however, he will most likely be in a rotation to give Boling and Zeitler a rest. He will play a role in the depth chart in case Bodine gets hurt. Westerman is a day three rookie, who most likely will not start in his rookie year, barring an unexpected injury.
