Another week passes and there’s another reason Reuben Foster could be the guy for the Bengals. If your thing is overdosing on mock drafts, you should know the skinny on the kid. Foster has been mocked to the Bengals so many times it’ll make your head spin (watch out Linda Blair). But, the former Crimson Tide linebacker was sent home from the NFL Combine. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, things got a bit crazy with Reuben at an Indianapolis hospital.
To keep an already wild incident short, let’s do the time warp version of the incident. Foster was supposedly waiting to be tested during the medical portion of the combine. The young man was getting tired of the extremely long wait and mentioned it to a hospital worker. The worker wasn’t in the mood for what Foster had to say and the two exchanged “heated” responses. Nothing like a god old face-off in public. It just gets the juices flowing.
Two of Foster’s teammates were present when the verbal altercation occurred. Of course, the NFL will be questioning them to find out if all the gory details are true.
Wait a minute. This sounds like something that went down in Cincinnati a few months back. Wasn’t there some incident with the Bengals’ Adam Jones that went viral? Oh yeah. He spits on a nurse while in jail. What is it with football players and hospital workers? Can’t we all just get along?
If Foster’s claim of being innocent doesn’t pan out, he may be a lock to join the Bengals. Marvin Lewis loves those hard luck cases.
Forgot About Dre?
Bengals’ cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick will be listening to some sweet offers, when the free agency waters start flowing. But, fans are hoping one rumor isn’t true. The Pittsburgh Steelers could have their crosshairs on Kirkpatrick.
Bengals fans may not appreciate his talents, but Kirkpatrick is listed among the top free agents available in 2017. He was penciled in at No. 41 by NFL.com. Yes. The same Dre Kirkpatrick that gets slammed for blowing coverages is reportedly on the radar of the Steelers and Titans.
Could this be a revenge move by Pittsburgh? The sentiment among fans of that northeast team remains the same. The Bengals allegedly stole William Jackson III to undermine the Steelers. Yup. That’s what a rivalry will do to people. Jackson’s injury was supposed to be karma for the deed.
Kirkpatrick’s play is so erratic, the Bengals could end up sweeping the Steelers. No, I’m joking. Dre had a decent season and will definitely have a payday coming. But, hopefully, No. 27 won’t channel a young Darrelle Revis for any other team than Cincinnati.
Since the Bengals played hardball and didn’t put a franchise tag on Kirkpatrick, the amount may be set. Whoever rolls the dice for more than $14.3 million could be the lottery winner. Bet “they” won’t forget about Dre.
