Playoffs??
Yes, Virginia. There is a Santa Claus. And he’ll be bringing the playoffs back to Cincinnati. To make things even bolder, the Bengals get a Bye Week. No, there aren’t any open cans of Monster or Redbull in my fridge. I’m not under the influence of any adult beverages. The natural order of things points to the Bengals being in the postseason.
Here’s where most fans will want my writing credentials revoked. Not only will the Bengals have time to prepare for their playoff opponent…they’ll win.
Lewis will be under a ton of pressure to prove he deserves to be head coach. Along with Director of Player Personnel, Duke Tobin, Marv has put together a dynamic team. On paper, there’s no way they should be bullied around by any AFC team. Getting the players to respond will be his test. Shifting their belief system into win mode for the Big Dance will make him seem like an overlooked genius.
It would be just too Hollywood to say their first playoff win will come against the Steelers. But, it’s tempting. Just look for the Bengals to be back in contention for the AFC North crown and sitting pretty for their first win after the regular season.
