Running Backs

The running backs trio of Giovani Bernard, Joe Mixon and Jeremy Hill could be one of the best when healthy. Bernard and Hill were considered a top-tier RB duo without the addition of Mixon. Bernard was the elite, pass-catching running back and Jeremy was the touchdown machine. One thing that both of them weren’t impressive at was actually running the ball. Bernard and Hill have struggled recently but both are good at what they’re expected to do in the upcoming season.

The Bengals turned heads in the NFL draft when they decided to select the controversial running back, Joe Mixon. Mixon was considered a first round talent that dropped due to his incident with a woman. If you look beyond that situation, Mixon was arguably the most talented running back in the draft. The thing about Joe Mixon that makes him so special is his mixture of both Hill and Gio. He can catch the ball at an elite level and run the ball effortlessly.

Mixon, according to many, is expected to take over the starting job from Hill and be the main runner. This doesn’t mean that Bernard’s and Hill’s roles will be diminished completely. If you know Marvin Lewis, he doesn’t necessarily like playing rookies often. When Bernard is healthy, expect him to get some snaps as a receiving back and Hill to get goal-line touches.
