The Cincinnati Bengals are holding their second week of voluntary OTA’s and Carlos Dunlap and Dre Kirkpatrick are the only two not on the field.

The Cincinnati Bengals are hosting their second week of OTA’s this week and there are two big names that are not in attendance. Defensive end Carlos Dunlap is missing as expected due to entering a contract season with the team. Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is the surprise no-show as he was in attendance last week.

Dunlap’s absence is something to be expected as he has already missed all of the voluntary workouts with the club so far this offseason. Part of the reasoning is his contract and wanted an extension before the year starts but there’s also the risk of getting hurt during OTA’s. Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry tore his ACL and will be out for the season already. Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Paul Worrilow is another player that suffered an ACL injury that will keep him out for the season last week.

There is no reason to worry about Dunlap being at OTA’s. Given his position, there’s not much for him to learn in a new system. If you keep up with his Instagram, you will see that Dunlap has been getting ready for the season, just not with the team. What will be interesting will be to see what Dunlap does come mandatory minicamp in June. If Dunlap decides to sit out for that, then we can start to worry.

Kirkpatrick is the player that is interesting to not see there. After participating in the first week, it doesn’t make much sense for him to not be in attendance this week. Unless, of course, there is something that is bugging him. Although, if it were injury related, Kirkpatrick would be on the rehab field which is still at OTA’s.

Kirkpatrick’s Instagram showed him in Atlanta yesterday which could mean that he was just busy and couldn’t make it to camp today. Kirkpatrick has been at every voluntary workout including helping out at rookie minicamp.
