Coming in as the 6th highest paid player is Vontaze Burfict. Burfict has more long term security with the Bengals than either Dunlap or Dennard, as he won’t be a free agent until 2021. For this season, Burfict will make $8.6 million. Whether that’s a value or not depends on what you think of Burfict.

At his best, he’s a game-changing linebacker who can lead the NFL in tackles, which would make $8.6 million a great value for Burfict. At his worst, though, he’s a destructive presence in the locker room who plays too much like a maverick on the field. If you believe that notion, then Burfict’s long term deal looks pretty ugly. I tend to lean towards the former – I think Burfict is a phenomenal value for this bengals’ defense.
