Can Eifert make an impact this season?

For the last two season, Tyler Eifert has dealt with several nagging injuries, barely seeing the field. After a Pro Bowl season for the Bengals in 2015, the former first round pick has been virtually useless. The Bengals brought Eifert back on a one-year, “prove-it” deal, so the onus of production is firmly on Eifert’s shoulders now.

Already, his health for 2018 is a question. Zach Appel has written about Eifert’s start on the PUP list, which doesn’t necessarily bode well for him. Eifert and the Bengals both seem confident he will play Week 1. Even still, Eifert needs to show he’s healthy during training camp.

If he does get on the field for training camp, pay extra close attention to him. The Bengals need his field-stretching ability up the middle and red zone presence inside the 20. A healthy Tyler Eifert could be just what this offense needs to run effectively again. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen a healthy Tyler Eifert in almost three years – we need to see it in camp this year.
