Special teams did not get any clearer

There seems to be a much more real kicker competition occurring this year than I thought. Third year player Jon Brown is seriously challenging Randy Bullock for the starting job, and neither slipped up against the Bears. Both made their field goals and extra points, so they go on to the next game against Dallas. Presumably, the Bengals are waiting for one of them to slip up during a game.

At returner, Darius Phillips finally acquitted himself in a game and showed what he could do. He took 3 returns for 68 yards, proving he can be a dynamic returner if given the chance. Alex Erickson looked just as good, also returning a punt as well. The Bengals gave John Ross and Tyler Boyd looks at punt returning as well. Right now, it seems like they don’t know what direction to go in, since each direction looks good.
