Quarterback Situation Becoming Clearer
At the start of the second half, quarterback Jeff Driskel took over the offense as the preferred backup at the moment. After his performance tonight, he distanced himself from Matt Barkley in the on-going back up competition. After throwing an interception on the first drive he came in for, which was an amazing play and quite lucky, Driskel proceeded to lead the longest drive of the night in the second half.
On a 14 play, 92 yard drive, Driskel led the offense to their only touchdown of the evening with Tra Carson punching it in. Wide receiver John Ross also got in on the action with a few nice catches including a two point conversion where he held on after getting a helmet hit. Driskel showed poise in the pocket, and delivered some nice and accurate passes tonight. Moving forward, Driskel has deserved the spot as the current backup. Barkley did eventually lead a touchdown drive in the fourth quarter, but inconsistent passing plagued him once again.
