Auden Tate

I need to make a public service announcement before I finish this blurb. I think Auden Tate is an awesome wide receiver (he was in my top ten wide receivers on my big board). I think he could be a perfect complementary wide receiver for this Bengals team. I think Tate should make the final roster.

With that being said, I would not guarantee that Tate makes the final roster. Tate isn’t quite like Rey or Johnson in that he’s not a cap casualty to save money, but he would certainly be a surprise cut. The reason Tate wouldn’t make the team is because of his limited role. The wide receiver group in Cincinnati is very deep, so Tate is stuck behind guys like John Ross, Tyler Boyd, and Josh Malone. Also, Tate doesn’t contribute on special teams (yet), so that makes him much less likely to be on the active roster.

If Tate finds a way to contribute on special teams at all, he should make the roster with no questions. However, if he can’t, the Bengals may not be able to find room for him. While it would be incredibly frustrating to see Cody Core make the team over Tate, it isn’t impossible at this point.
