We are ranking each Bengals player 54-1 in four separate series. Looking at the top five players on this roster, it’s clear they separate themselves.

With most of the roster out of the way, we are left with just the stars. It becomes very clear that the Bengals’ strength is on defense when looking at just the top of the rankings. Four of the five players in the top five are defensive players, and Vontaze Burfict would be sixth if he weren’t suspended for four games.

The Bengals will rely on their defense to win games this year. The offense can do enough to get by and put points on the board, but the burden will fall on the defense. That responsibility is top down, so the players in the top five need to show out in a big way this season to get the defense back on track.

The role players will be important for the Bengals to win games in 2018. However, if this team wants to be great, these five guys have to have big years. The Cincinnati defense could be elite once again, leading this franchise back to the playoffs. Let’s take a look at the five studs at the top of this roster:
