The Case Against Andy Dalton
Dalton epitomizes the mediocrity and lack of seriousness that makes many fans upset with the Bengals organization. While Dalton isn’t a bad player, he rarely is a “good” one, far to often being overwhelmed in big games and moments (0-4 in the postseason). Many fans view him as somebody who the organization places undue faith in, especially given his lack of postseason success. Dalton puts no fear into those who play him, and defenses are aware of some of his shortcomings in terms of arm strength and decision making, and good head coaches frequently give him fits.
If Cincinnati goes away from their veteran signal caller, there is no guarantee that things will get better immediately, and most likely will be worse in the short term. Regardless, many feel that by going in a new direction at quarterback, either through the draft, free agency, or trade, the Bengals will have new life and be able to break the chains of mediocre consistency that Dalton provides.
