Focus Point No. 1 – Penalties

Penalties happen in the game of football. However, coaching can play a large part in managing the rate at which players are penalized. The Bengals as a team had 31 false start penalties in 2018, ranking them 32nd in the NFL (last). The league average was 18.  The offensive line alone accounted for 42 penalties for a total loss of 319 yards. The Bengals as a whole accumulated 114 penalties during the 2018 season, ranking them 9th most in the NFL. Hopefully, coach Taylor will be able to clean up some of the mental mistakes that plagued Marvin’s tenure.
