Cincinnati Bengals: Free Agents and trades to make the Bengals better
With Week 1 of the preseason in the books, the Cincinnati Bengals are still a work in progress. Will the team finally take a look at making some roster moves? If so, here are a few worth considering.
The Cincinnati Bengals front office is notorious for being conservative and refusing to do much in free agency or on the trade market. Now is the time for the team to do some soul-searching. They may be content with their current roster but the first preseason game showed major weaknesses among the linebackers. The first unit offensive line performed well, but in such limited action, it is hard to believe they improved significantly from last year. Early in this preseason, they still have options to strengthen their team before Week 1.
As the Zac Taylor era begins in earnest, the Bengals will eventually be faced with decisions regarding personnel. With some young skill players like wide receiver Tyler Boyd and running back Joe Mixon, older players like A.J. Green and Carlos Dunlap are players in their 30’s. The questions are what kind of team in Cincinnati and how long will fans have to wait before they make the kind of moves that are either about winning now or building for the future.
In 2019, the team does have some options. While the first game of the preseason isn’t a large sample, some areas are a concern. Here are some transactions that are interesting and could still swing the season towards a winning record.
