With five games in December, there is some opportunity. The Cincinnati Bengals get two cracks at the Browns in addition to a game at home against the Jets and a road game at Miami. Both are also winless heading into Week 6, and both have issues that run deep.

A potential fly in the ointment is progress. Yes, the Bengals could and should be better in December. That said, so potentially are New York and Miami.

The Jets have been without Sam Darnold for a few weeks. With Darnold, the Jets are better. The odds that they enter Week 13 still needing a win are minimal at best.

As for Miami, they have been rumored to be in the tank for the top overall draft pick next year. They are more of a wildcard to predict over the next few months. The Bengals would be traveling to Miami in Week 16 for that potential matchup of 0-forever teams.

One thing else to watch is the makeup of the Bengals come December. If they are without a win, who knows what the quarterback situation is like. Perhaps Dalton has been put on the shelf to allow for Ryan Finley. If Cincinnati gets to the last month of the season having not won a game, it’s anyone’s guess what a game-day lineup looks like.
