Five Offensive Linemen the Cincinnati Bengals could target in 2020
As of right now, Andrew Thomas out of Georgia is the consensus top offensive line prospect and it’s easy to see why.
In the clip above from @thorku, you can see the sheer power Thomas has. That’s no back-up defensive end he’s tossing either. That’s 2019 No. #7 overall pick Josh Allen, one of the top edge prospects to come out of his class. Now consider that Thomas will have another season of college football against other great talents to hone his skills and it’s easy to see why he has NFL scouts drooling.
Thomas has it all. At 6’5″, 320 pounds he has the perfect size for a franchise left tackle. He is very capable of getting out in space and to the second level in the run game. There, you can easily see his heavy hands provide a punch to knock defensive players off their course.
In his pass protection, he has the power to render a bull rush useless and toss an off-balance pass rusher with ease. He displays athleticism and light feet when he needs to as well.
In order to acquire the ultra-talented Thomas, the Bengals would have to spend their first pick on him. That means passing up on a quarterback in the first round this year. Still, it could be worth it. Having Thomas and Williams as bookends would give Cincinnati two of the most promising young players at the position. It would certainly make things easier for whoever ends up being Andy Dalton’s successor.
