The 2019 NFL season has been nothing short of a disaster for the Cincinnati Bengals. After parting ways with long-time head coach Marvin Lewis, the Bengals have lost all nine of their games this season. While we all knew this was going to be a rebuilding year in the Queen City, we would have thought that first-year head coach Zac Taylor would have won a game by now.

On this week’s episode of Stacking the Box, FanSided‘s Matt Verderame and Mark Carman, along with former NFL offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz, look at the Bengals the rest of the way and see if they are truly destined to be picking Andy Dalton’s replacement No. 1 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft (43:25).

“The Bengals suck, man, like flat-out suck,” said Verderame. “There’s no great analysis there, they may not win a game. They are brutal in every imaginable way…Now with Ryan Finley at quarterback, they’re actively trying to lose because there’s no way he’s better than Andy Dalton, nor is he the future.”

Verderame would say that there are a few opportunities left where the Bengals could win a game. Those would be against the Cleveland Browns and on the road against the Miami Dolphins, two teams that have no shot at making the AFC playoffs either. It may be time to get ready for the NFL Draft, with quarterbacks Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert likely to go in the top-10.

Verderame joked that Burrow should ask for an extra year of eligibility so he can keep playing football with the Bayou Bengals instead of the NFL Bengals. As for Schwartz, he just doesn’t want to see his fellow Oregon Duck Justin Herbert go to Cincinnati and get ruined.

At best, the Bengals are going to win two games this year. If they beat Miami in Week 16, that might swing the No. 1 overall pick back in the Dolphins’ favor. For now, the Bengals have to accept their reality in that they are the worst team in the league during the 2019 NFL season. Things will get better because this has been as bad as it gets.

Here are a few other topics discussed on this week’s episode of Stacking the Box:

  • Is Lamar Jackson the MVP right now? (14:02)
  • The Ravens staff is the real MVP (19:04)
  • Texans-Ravens odds (29:01)
