This is no stretch. Zac Taylor has been miserable in his head coaching debut, and given how bad this team has consistently been and likely will be the rest of this season, the Cincinnati Bengals make the move and fire him at the end of the season.

Taylor was a misfire, and there is no shame in getting a decision like that wrong. The bigger mistake would be for the Bengals to think he can be effective after such a disastrous season. Even more, he looks to be lost. His play-calling has been suspect, and talent (or lack thereof) won’t be what saves him.

Most simply put, he was not and is not ready to be a head coach, certainly not with a team and organization so completely upside down. In this instance, the mere association with Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay was the first error. Keeping him in hopes he’s qualified to rebuild a team would be the second error.

Next. Can an argument already be made for Jake Dolegala?. dark

The Cincinnati Bengals can’t keep making mistakes of this magnitude. They have the kind of issues demanding a coach with a proven track record, not someone looking to build one. Taylor can’t and should not survive this. Cincinnati needs a clean break from everything 2019 to have any hope of moving forward. Moving on from Dalton was the first positive step into the future. To jettison Taylor would be the second.
