Cincinnati Bengals: 7 Round 2020 Mock Draft
With Tua Tagovailoa’s season ending injury, Joe Burrow finds himself alone atop of the rankings for incoming quarterback prospects. Formerly an Ohio State castoff, Burrow has asserted himself in SEC territory, toppling Alabama and everybody else who has stood in his team’s way.
He’s been on a tear this season, securing first place in the Heisman race as well as the Pro Football Focus quarterback rankings. He’s completing an absurd 78.6% of his passes with a sky high quarterback rating of 93.2. If he can keep this level of play up and translate it to the league, he will be able to mask a lot of the Bengals deficiencies on his own.
He is being touted most for his accuracy and anticipation, which he shows off frequently. However, one aspect of his play that isn’t often mentioned is his mobility. He traverses the pocket well and isn’t afraid to run. It adds an extra dimension to any offense and would go a long way in opening up the Bengals playbook.
What he does off the field may be just as important. He was able to alter LSU’s entire culture and raise them to a championship caliber offense to finally match the defense. His demeanor, leadership skills, confidence, and fire could do the same for the Bengals.
