One of the Bengals most underrated needs this offseason is cornerback. Dre Kirkpatrick saw his season end in injury. Some have suggested he may become a cap casualty in the roster overhaul.  Darqueze Dennard’s contract is up at the end of this season. He may find a bigger payday elsewhere. Regardless of what happens with those two, adding Eric Stokes out of Georgia would be a solid move.

Stokes has the speed, range, and change of direction that every defensive backs coach looks for. He ran track in high school, securing high rankings at the Georgia state championship in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

Division rivals have recently added some fast receivers in Odell Beckham Jr. and Hollywood Brown.  Adding Stokes could help the Bengals stifle their passing attacks.

His speed will suit him well on special teams, where he would be asked to contribute right away as a late round pick. The Bengals already do well in the third phase of the game. Adding him would only further boost the unit.

If he adds a little size and develops well, he has the potential to be a solid starter for the Bengals eventually.
