The most obvious of all the candidates listed, Andy Dalton stands a good chance of dawning a new uniform by the time next season rolls around.

Dalton is expected to be traded after reports that the Bengals are willing to work with him to find a new team have surfaced. As emotional as it may be for the Queen City to watch their franchise quarterback of 9 years lead a new team, a fresh start makes sense from every perspective.

The Red Rifle isn’t out of ammunition yet and likely feels he can be a starter for one of the other 31 teams. Potential landing spots include the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to name a few.

For the Bengals, moving Dalton clears the way for Joe Burrow (presumably) to take the reigns in Cincinnati. As the lead guy in the quarterback room, Burrow will be free to employ the leadership skills that saw him take LSU to a national championship.

Beyond paving the way for the new face of their franchise, they would clear $17.7 million in cap space, which could be used in several different ways. Extending A.J. Green for this season, looking ahead to lock up players like Joe Mixon or Carl Lawson, and acquiring key pieces in free agency all seem to be good ways to utilize the new-found money.
