It will be nearly impossible to find a single player who could fill A.J. Green’s shoes. However, at some point, the superstar wideout will no longer be in stripes, whether that be from retirement or moving on in free agency. The Bengals should certainly take a stab at finding a prospect who can fill some of the void left when Green exits.

Thanks to free-agent acquisitions and the historic wide receiver class, there is good reason to believe they do so this year. At the top of round two, any number of pass-catchers could be up for grabs that would have gone much higher in other years. Denzel Mims, Justin Jefferson, Jalen Reagor, Brandon Aiyuk, and Tee Higgins all top the list. Each offer a unique skill set and could provide significant production alongside Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate, and John Ross.

The possibilities don’t stop there either. Chase Claypool, Van Jefferson, and others could all probably be had in round three or later.

Whether Green leaves next season after his franchise tag expires or he hangs up his cleats five years down the line as a Bengal, there is a good chance that this draft produces a receiver that is next in line after the Georgia standout.
