In all honesty, the Bengals are one of the most difficult teams to predict in the entire NFL. Nearly 50% of their expected starters didn’t play for them a season ago. With so much change, everything we thought we once knew about Cincinnati can be thrown out the window.

You also have to account for growing pains, especially if the team doesn’t get to play preseason games. Joe Burrow, Tee Higgins, Logan Wilson, and all of the free-agent additions may have to adjust on the fly, making circumstances difficult.

Plus, there always seems to be an injury or two that significantly impacts a position group. Hopefully, a repeat of losing players like A.J. Green and Jonah Williams doesn’t happen. However, nearly every team suffers a loss of an important player every year.

Despite some of the negatives listed above, the Bengals could very well exceed an 8-win season. Burrow is reportedly already weeks ahead on learning the playbook and the lack of an offseason could reduce the amount of snaps players risk their bodies to injury.

Overall, optimism should remain high for the city of Cincinnati. The team could surprise everybody and the new guys can hit the ground running. Even if that doesn’t happen, the front office has put the pieces in place to enjoy significant success in the future.
