Running back stat predictions

Joe Mixon: 291 carries, 1,401 rushing yards, 8 rushing touchdowns, 40 receptions, 312 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns

At this point, Joe Mixon may be the most talented player on the entire Bengals roster. Often overlooked by the rest of the league, 2020 should be the season that Mixon proves that he belongs with the best running backs in the league. With a rookie quarterback, there could be times where the Bengals have to rely on the running game. Mixon should benefit immensely from that and have the best season of his career.

Unfortunately, I don’t expect the offense to give him many more receiving opportunities. Despite being one of the better receiving backs in the league, the Bengals have regularly ignored Mixon in the passing game. Though I’m not sure why he has been overlooked in that part of the game, with more weapons than ever I don’t expect this issue to be resolved in 2020.

The biggest issue for Mixon’s production could be if he holds out for a contract extension. This shouldn’t be a problem, as I expect the Bengals and him to come to an agreement before the season, but it is certainly a looming threat.

Trending. Fred Johnson could be coming for the Bengals’ starting right tackle spot. light

Giovani Bernard: 49 carries, 215 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns, 14 receptions, 122 yards

Sadly, there isn’t much to say about fan-favorite Giovani Bernard these days. In the past couple of years, coaches have seemed to forget about Gio. He can still get good chunks of yardage when given the chance, but he does not get enough of those chances. With more wide receivers in the mix and Joe Mixon likely getting a long term deal, I expect Gio to become even more of a non-factor in 2020. As the proud owner of a Bernard jersey, this one hurts to project.
