Bengals- Bargain free agents: Ron Leary

The Bengals are adamant that they’re content with their offensive line configuration but at some point, the amount of money they could get Ron Leary for could be just too good to pass up on.

Leary would bring so much needed experience to an offensive line room that is expected to heavily rely on youngsters. As things stand, as many as three starters could be in just their first or second year in the league, which is less than ideal when welcoming a new franchise quarterback.

The former Memphis Tiger has 77 games under his belt and his presence doesn’t necessarily mean that he would be taking time away from one of the young guns either. View him as more of an insurance policy if things start to go south.

The Louisianna native has been pretty solid throughout his career. At his peak, he earned a Pro Football Focus grade of 80. There was even a stretch during his tenure in Dallas where he was a key piece for the league’s best offensive line.

Of course, signing a guy like Larry Warford would be preferred but if he falls outside of their price range, bringing in Leary could be a wise move. At the very least, he could act as a mentor, step in if he has to at times, and provide injury insurance.
